In the course of these instructions I will describe the mode of filling in each part of the card.

Nationality It will be sufficient to divide the ulasses of natbnality into Europeans, Asiatics and Chinese. I wish the(separate) class of Chinese for the purpose of a guide (if feasible) to the rate of mortality
Put E for European in the of that class in itself. replies; A for Asiatics, and C for chinese.

Bachelor etc.,relates to the member's state in this respect on the 31/18/1908.
Put B. for Bachelor in the
replies; W. for Widower, and H for married man.

Cause of Exit This applies to cases where member- ship has ceased, and such causes will be Death, dismissal, Voluntary resignation, and cancelment of Interest in the fund by payment of a refund of part of the contributions. (1) Put D for death; (2) and W (that is withdrawal) for any of the other causes specified; but (3) where the member on the 31/12/1908, insert was still existing on the fund
I beg your particula in reply here, the word "Existing". attention to this question in respect of the insertion of Existing where this is the case.
6. Date of Birth etc., the month may be inserted by iti number, but the year in full. Thus, if birth occurred in July 1870, insert "7" under "month" and*1878"under"year".

The date of Exit will be that of death (A) or of with drawal from the other causes specified (7). Where the person was still existing in the fund as a member on the 31/12/1900, insert the reply "Existing" against the "date of "Exit"
Where a member of the fund
(married or a widower) has died leaving a pension to the wife and children (or wife, or children)a reference shoulde be made on the card to the schedule (hereafter described}} containing the particulars of the pension payable as at the 31/12/1908.
